Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (L36) or Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (L67) in Engine Mechanical - 3.8L.
  2. Remove the left instrument panel sound insulator. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Left in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

  3. Remove the accelerator cable (5) from the accelerator pedal (1).
  4. Attach a piece of mechanics wire to the end of the accelerator cable for aid in the installation of the cable.

  5. Squeeze the accelerator cable cover tangs.
  6. Push the accelerator cable through the bulkhead.

  7. Remove the accelerator cable from the retaining clip.

  8. Remove the accelerator cable from the throttle body lever.

  9. Remove the accelerator cable from the accelerator controls cable bracket.

  10. Remove the accelerator cable from the vehicle and verify routing for installation.
  11. Remove the mechanics wire from the end of the accelerator cable.
