Removal Procedure

  1. Turn OFF the ignition switch.
  2. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (L36) or Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (L67) in Engine Mechanical.

  3. Note the position of the spark plug wires before removing the wires.
  4. Twist the spark plug boot 1/2 turn before removing the boots.
  5. Gently pry the heat shield up from the spark plugs using the J 38491  . See Special Tools .
  6. Remove the spark plug wires from the spark plugs.
  7. Remove the spark plugs from the engine.
