Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Remove the engine sight shield. Refer to Engine Sight Shield Replacement .

  4. Disconnect the 3 engine control module wiring harness plugs (2).
  5. Disconnect the 3 heated oxygen sensor wiring harness plugs (2) and unclip the wiring harness plug from the bracket.
  6. Unclip the 2 wiring harness retainers (3).
  7. Remove the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement .
  8. Remove the front compartment fuse block. Refer to Front Compartment Fuse Block Replacement .

  10. Remove the wiring harness ground cable nut (2) and remove the wiring harness ground cable (3).
  11. Remove the wiring harness plug (1) in top direction from the front compartment fuse block housing.
  12. Disconnect the wiring harness connection adapter plug (4).

  14. For manual transmission, disconnect the backup lamp switch wiring harness plug (3).
  15. If equipped for manual transmission, disconnect the neutral gear sensor wiring harness plug (2).
  16. Unclip the 2 wiring harness retainers (1).

  18. For automatic transmission, disconnect the transmission control module wiring harness plug (2).
  19. Unclip the wiring harness retainer (1).

  21. Unclip the coolant hose (3) from the charge air cooler outlet air hose retainer.
  22. Loosen the clamp (1).
  23. Remove the charge air cooler outlet air hose (2) from the throttle body adapter. Hang the hose aside.

  25. Disconnect the fuel injection wiring harness plug (3).
  26. Disconnect the exhaust camshaft position sensor wiring harness plug (1).
  27. Disconnect the intake camshaft position sensor wiring harness plug (5).
  28. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature wiring harness plug (6).
  29. Remove the engine wiring harness ground cable bolt (6) and the ground cable (7).
  30. Unclip the 2 wiring harness retainers (2, 4).

  32. Disconnect the fuel pump wiring harness plug (5).
  33. Disconnect the intake air pressure/temperature sensor wiring harness plug (1).
  34. Disconnect the throttle body wiring harness plug (3).
  35. Unclip the 3 wiring harness retainers (2, 4).

  37. Disconnect the 4 ignition coil wiring harness plugs (2).
  38. Unclip the 2 wiring harness retainers (1).

  40. Disconnect the engine oil pressure wiring harness plug (3).
  41. Disconnect the intake camshaft actuator solenoid valve wiring harness plug (5).
  42. Disconnect the evaporative emission canister purge solenoid valve wiring harness plug (1).
  43. Unclip the 3 wiring harness retainers (2, 4).

  45. Disconnect the mass air flow sensor wiring harness plug (1).
  46. Unclip the 3 wiring harness retainers (2).
  47. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement .

  49. Disconnect the exhaust camshaft position actuator solenoid valve wiring harness plug (2).
  50. Disconnect the turbocharger wastegate regulator solenoid valve wiring harness plug (3).
  51. Disconnect the engine coolant thermostat wiring harness plug (4).
  52. Unclip the 4 wiring harness retainers (1, 5).
  53. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

  55. Disconnect the charge air bypass valve wiring harness plug (2).
  56. Disconnect the knock sensor wiring harness plug (3).
  57. Disconnect the oil pump flow wiring harness plug (5).
  58. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor wiring harness plug (4).
  59. Disconnect the generator wiring harness plug (6).
  60. Disconnect the starter wiring harness plug (8).
  61. Disconnect the crankshaft position sensor wiring harness plug (10).
  62. Disconnect the engine oil level sensor wiring harness plug (9).
  63. Disconnect the heater inlet pump wiring harness plug (1).
  64. Unclip the 5 wiring harness retainers (4).

  66. Disconnect the 2 AC compressor wiring harness plugs (1, 2).
  67. Lower the vehicle.
  68. Remove the engine control module wiring harness from the vehicle.
