System Check - Riviera
NOTE:
If both transmitters do not operate all system functions, check for a grounded Black/White wire between Vehicle Access Code (VAC) connector and terminal C11 of keyless entry module connector. Check for faulty antenna or coaxial antenna cable. Check for an open circuit in power or ground circuit to keyless entry module. Check for an unprogrammed keyless entry module. For location of keyless entry components, see KEYLESS ENTRY COMPONENT LOCATION
table.
- Open vehicle windows. Cover twilight photocell with cardboard. With all doors closed and unlocked, gear selector in Park, and key out of ignition, press LOCK button on transmitter.
- If all doors do not lock, check keyless entry module connector terminal C3 (Light Blue wire) for an open circuit. If wire is okay, replace and program keyless entry module.
- If doors do lock, determine whether vehicle has a theft deterrent system. If vehicle does not have theft deterrent system, go to step 5). If vehicle is equipped with theft deterrent system and it armed when button on transmitter was pressed, go to step 5).
- If system did not arm when button on transmitter was pressed, check keyless entry module terminal C9 (Light Blue wire) for an open circuit. Check keyless entry module terminal C14 (Pink/Black wire) for a short to battery. If wires are okay, replace and program keyless entry module.
- Press UNLOCK button only once on transmitter. If left front door does not unlock, go to MODULE UNLOCK TEST NO 1 . If left front door does unlock, check if courtesy lights come on when unlock button is pressed.
- If courtesy lights do not come on, ground keyless entry module terminal C7 (Gray wire) and observe BCM input test BI06. If momentary LO then HIX is displayed, replace and program keyless entry module. If HIX is not displayed, check Gray wire from keyless entry module terminal C7 to terminal 1C13 (Gray wire) of Body Computer Module (BCM) for open circuit or high resistance.
- If courtesy lights do come on and theft deterrent system did not disarm when UNLOCK button on transmitter was pressed, check for an open circuit in keyless entry module terminal C8 (Light Green wire). If wire is okay, replace and program keyless entry module.
- If vehicle is not equipped with theft deterrent system, or if theft deterrent system disarmed when unlock button on transmitter was pressed, press UNLOCK button on transmitter twice within 1.5 seconds. If all doors do not unlock, go to MODULE UNLOCK TEST NO 1 .
- If all doors do unlock, turn ignition switch to RUN, then OFF position. Close all doors and ensure courtesy lights are off. Press dome light button on transmitter. If courtesy lights do not come on, replace and program keyless entry module.
- If courtesy lights come on, press trunk release button on transmitter. If trunk lid release does not operate, go to MODULE UNLOCK TEST NO 1 . If trunk lid release does operate, close trunk. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Press trunk release button on transmitter.
- If trunk release operates, go to step 13). If trunk release does not operate, turn ignition switch to OFF position and disconnect keyless entry module. Turn ignition switch to RUN position and put transmission in Park position. Measure voltage between keyless entry module terminal C13 (Gray wire) and ground.
- If battery voltage is present, replace and program keyless entry module. If battery voltage is not present, check transaxle position switch for continuity and adjust as necessary. Check module terminal C13 (Gray wire) for an open circuit.
- If trunk release operated in step 11), with all doors unlocked and closed, move gear selector out of Park. If all doors do not lock, check transaxle position switch and Gray wire for a short to voltage. Check keyless entry module Pink/Black wire from terminal C14 for an open circuit. If all circuits are okay, replace and program keyless entry module.
- If all doors do lock, move gear selector back to Park. If doors do not unlock, replace and program keyless entry module. If doors do unlock, close trunk lid. With ignition switch in RUN position, move gear selector out of Park. Press trunk release button on transmitter. If trunk lid release operates, replace and program keyless entry module.
- If trunk lid release does not operate, turn ignition switch to OFF position and close all doors. Lock doors with transmitter. Insert key in left door lock cylinder and turn key to unlock twice or hold in UNLOCK position. Repeat on right door lock cylinder.
- If all doors do not unlock, check wiring from terminal C8 (Light Green wire) of keyless entry module to suspect door lock cylinder switch. If wiring is okay, check continuity of suspect door lock cylinder switch. If switch and wiring are okay, replace and program keyless entry module.
- If doors do unlock, no trouble is found and system is operating normally. Repeat system check with second transmitter to verify operation.
