Transmitter Synchronization

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1997 Cadillac Catera. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Resynchronization may be necessary due to security methods used by Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system. Transmitters do not send the same signal twice. Receiver will not respond to a signal it has been sent previously, preventing recording and playback of transmitter signal. Resynchronization will be necessary if:

To resynchronize transmitter to receiver, stand within 5 feet of vehicle, depress and hold TRUNK button and, within one second, depress and hold LOCK button. Continue to hold LOCK and TRUNK buttons on transmitter for 7 seconds, then release. Transmitter should now function properly.
