Remote Keyless Entry System Inoperative

  1. If system operation check was performed, go to next step. If system operation check has not been performed, see SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  2. Resynchronize transmitters. If transmitters function, verify all Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system functions. If transmitters do not function, go to next step.
  3. Check IGN SW fuse No. 20 (15-amp) at rear junction block for open. If fuse is open, go to step 10). If fuse is not open, go to next step.
  4. Remove RKE module. Using DVOM, check for battery voltage at RKE connector terminal No. "1" (Orange wire). If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, go to step 6).
  5. Check for continuity to ground between RKE module connector terminal No. "4" (Black/White wire). If continuity to ground exists , go step 9). If continuity to ground does not exist, go to step 8).
  6. Using DVOM connected to ground, backprobe rear junction block connector C1, terminal E10. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, check for open in circuit No. 540 (Orange wire).
  7. Repair open or short to ground in Orange wire between RKE module and rear junction block. Verify system operation.
  8. Repair open in Black/White wire between RKE module to ground. Verify system operation.
  9. Replace RKE module. Verify system operation.
  10. Replace fuse. Verify system operation.
