Remote Keyless Entry System Inoperative
- If remote keyless entry diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If remote keyless entry diagnostic system check was not performed, go to REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- If RKE system is inoperative from both transmitters, go to next step. If RKE system is inoperative from one transmitter, go to step 8 .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect RKE module connector. Using DVOM, measure voltage between RKE module connector terminal No. 1 (Orange wire) and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If battery voltage is indicated, go to next step. If battery voltage is not indicated, go to step 5 .
- Using DVOM, measure voltage between RKE module connector terminals No. 1 (Orange wire) and No. 4 (Black wire). If battery voltage is indicated, go to step 7 . If battery voltage is not indicated, go to step 6 .
- Repair open or short to ground in Orange wire between RKE module and rear fuse block. Recheck system operation.
- Repair open in Black/White wire between RKE module and ground. Recheck system operation.
- Replace RKE module. See REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
- Replace transmitter battery in faulty transmitter. Recheck system operation. If RKE system is still inoperative, go to next step.
- Replace faulty transmitter. After replacement, transmitter must be programmed. See TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING under PROGRAMMING PROCEDURES. Recheck system operation.
