Position Sensors

Position sensors are used by Memory Seat Module (MSM), Driver Door Module (DDM), Passenger Front Door Module (PFDM) and Steering Column Tilt/Telescopic Module (SCCM) to store motor positions in memory and return motors to stored memory positions. Each sensor is a potentiometer, and is mounted to each motor's transmission cable. When cable rotates, resistance of potentiometer varies, and feedback voltage is monitored by module to determine motor position. Feedback voltages vary 0.25-4.75 volts. Modules store motor positions by recording each position sensor feedback voltage. When a memorized position is requested, each motor is moved until the position sensor feedback voltage equals feedback voltage stored in memory. For easy exit functions, only seat and steering column position sensor feedback voltages are recorded. Only seat and steering column motors operate during easy exit function. See EASY EXIT  .
