Preliminary Throttle Valve Synchronization: Notes
NOTE:
The following procedure applies only if manifold cover, one or both throttle body units, or throttle body castings have been replaced. The final throttle valve synchronization must be performed with assembly on vehicle and engine running. See appropriate TUNE-UP article for adjustment procedure.
- Turn both front and rear unit throttle stop screws counterclockwise enough to break contact with related throttle lever tangs. Adjust throttle synchronizing screw to allow both throttle valves to close.
- Throttle rod end bearing will move freely on front unit throttle lever stud when both valves are closed. Turn front throttle stop screw until it makes contact with throttle lever tang. Turn in an additional 1/4 turn.
- Turn rear throttle stop screw until it contacts throttle lever tang. Turn in an additional 1/2 turn.
