Modes Of Operation: Starting

When ignition switch is turned on, fuel pump relay activates fuel pump for 2 seconds to prime injectors. The ECM then checks the coolant temperature sensor, throttle position sensor, and crank signal. Proper air/fuel ratio for starting will then be computed.

If ECM does not receive reference pulses from the distributor after this period, it deactivates fuel pump circuit. Fuel pump circuit will be activated again through the relay when ECM receives distributor reference pulses.
