Air Induction System
An air crossover housing is located on top of engine over injection pump. It serves as the only air inlet in the system. No fuel passes through crossover. It is an open-chambered housing with a single inlet drawing air through an air filter assembly mounted above. The EGR valve is mounted in the air intake of the crossover housing on all but VIN T engines.
Crossover unit has 2 branches, one leading to each side of intake manifold. Gaskets are installed between crossover and manifold to prevent vacuum leaks. Starter fluid should NEVER be used or sprayed into crossover. If crossover is removed, air screens must be installed.
