Fuel Injection System - Diesel: Overhaul: Injectors: Reassembly

Insert valve into spray tip. Install spring, spring seat, and retainer. Using a clean, unpainted piece of steel as a base, compress spring.
Push on retainer and slide to a center position after spring has been compressed. After assembly, rotate retainer to assure proper seating of components. Install nozzle tip into body.
Insert inlet fitting into body. Tighten to 35 ft. lbs. (47 N.m). Test injector. See Testing in this article.
Install new copper washer before assembling into engine. It may be necessary to crimp washer slightly to create an interference fit so it will remain in place.
