Headlamp Switch

  1. To check headlamp switch, remove switch from dash panel. Using an ohmmeter, measure continuity between terminals as follows.
  2. When headlamp switch off, there should be no continuity between terminals. When switch is in parking lamp position, continuity should exist between White/Yellow and Orange terminals. When switch is in "ON" position, continuity should exist between White/Yellow and Orange terminals, and Green/Black and Black terminals.
  3. To check rheostat in switch, remove switch from dash panel and connect it to battery as follows.
  4. Battery positive (+) to B terminal of switch. Battery negative (-) to E terminal of switch. Connect a test lamp (12 volts, 3 or 4 amps) between terminal L and battery positive (+) terminal. See Fig 1 . Turning switch clockwise, lamp should brighten, turned counterclockwise, lamp should dim.
