Mixture By-Pass Solenoid

  1. With ignition on and engine stopped, apply electrical load (headlights, rear defogger, etc.). Disconnect 12-pin carburetor connector. See Figure . Check voltage from carburetor harness connector terminal C to B. If voltage is greater than 8 volts, go to step 2). If voltage is less than 8 volts, check battery. If okay, check harness to terminal C.
  2. Connect carburetor connector terminal c to battery and terminal b to ground. If solenoid does not click, check for open in carburetor harness or defective solenoid. If solenoid does click, solenoid and harness are okay.
