Key-In Ignition Chime Does Not Operate Properly
- Disconnect MAM connectors. Place ignition key in ignition switch. Connect a test light between MAM connector C2 terminal "D" (Orange wire) and MAM connector C1 terminal "E" (Light Green wire). If test light illuminates, go to step 11). If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
- Connect test light between ground and MAM connector C2 terminal "D" (Orange wire). If test light illuminates, go step 4). If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
- Repair open in Orange wire between fuse block and MAM connector C2 terminal "D". After repair, repeat SYSTEM CHECK to ensure system is operational.
- Disconnect ignition key connector C2. Remove ignition key from ignition switch. Using a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) in voltmeter mode, check voltage between ground and MAM connector C1, terminal "E" (Light Green wire). If no voltage is present, go to step 6). If any voltage is present, go to next step.
- Repair short to battery voltage in Light Green wire between MAM connector C1 terminal "E" and ignition switch connector C2 terminal "F". After repair, repeat SYSTEM CHECK to ensure system is operational.
- Using DVOM in ohmmeter mode, check resistance in Light Green wire between MAM connector C1 terminal "E" and ignition switch connector C2 terminal "F". If resistance is 0-2 ohms, go to step 8). If resistance is not as specified, go to next step.
- Repair open Light Green wire between MAM connector C1 terminal "E" and ignition switch connector C2 terminal "F". After repair, repeat SYSTEM CHECK to ensure system is operational.
- Disconnect ignition key connector C1. Using DVOM, check resistance in Black wire between ground and MAM connector C1 terminal "E". If resistance is 0-2 ohms, go to step 10). If resistance is not as specified, go to next step.
- Repair open in Black wire between ground and MAM connector C2 terminal "E". After repair, repeat SYSTEM CHECK to ensure system is operational. 10 Replace ignition switch. See appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. After repair, repeat SYSTEM CHECK to ensure system is operational.
- Replace MAM. See MULTIFUNCTION ALARM MODULE (MAM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, repeat SYSTEM CHECK to ensure system is operational.
