Hydraulic Control Test

  1. Turn ignition off. Raise vehicle so wheels are off ground. Connect Tech 2. Turn ignition on. Select SPECIAL FUNCTIONS, HYDRAULIC CONTROL. Select channel to be tested. When testing rear brakes, both rear wheels should rotate together, when applicable, and not rotate together when applicable.
  2. Depress brake pedal. Pedal should remain high and firm. Have an assistant attempt to rotate wheel being tested. If wheel does not rotate, base brake system is working properly.
  3. With brake pedal depressed, press up arrow key on scan tool. Brake pedal should remain high and firm. If pedal drops, check that solenoid connectors are connected to correct solenoid.
  4. With pedal depressed, have assistant attempt to rotate wheel. Wheel should rotate with little or no resistance for full 18 second duration of test. After 18 seconds, brake pressure will be applied. A slight bump may be felt in pedal. This is normal. Wheel should not be able to rotate.
