Spare Key Not Available
NOTE:
When disconnecting steering column harness connector, do not disconnect Yellow 2-pin SIR connector when determining key code.
NOTE:
Dealer vehicle invoice contains resistor pellet and mechanical cut key codes. Use the following procedure if dealer invoice is not available. This procedure will determine resistor pellet code programmed on vehicle. This procedure does not explain how to determine mechanical cut key code.
- Cut a new ignition key that is not equipped with a resistor pellet. This test key will be used to operate ignition switch for remaining steps. Remove sound insulator panel under left side of instrument panel. Disconnect 2-pin harness connector leading into steering column.
- Close left front door. Connect Interrogator (J-35628-A) to steering column harness. Turn on Interrogator (J-35628-A) and move key code switch to No. 1 position and attempt to start engine. If engine starts, key code is No. 1. If engine does not start, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Turn resistor pellet key code selector on Interrogator (J-35628-A) to next higher position. Wait for 4 minutes. Use 4-minute timer on Interrogator (J-35628-A) to indicate 4-minute interval. Start timer by depressing start rocker switch. Red indicator will turn off at end of a 4-minute interval. Turn ignition switch to START position using new resistor pellet key code. Repeat step until engine starts. Cut a new ignition key with resistor pellet code that allowed engine to start.
