Powertrain Control Module: Installation
- Install the PCM bracket underneath the instrument panel. Secure the PCM bracket with the 4 bolts. Tighten the PCM bracket bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the PCM into the PCM bracket. Secure the PCM to the PCM bracket with the 2 bolts. Tighten the PCM retaining bolts to specification. Connect the PCM electrical connectors as follows: Connect the four PCM electrical connectors on vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission. Connect the three PCM electrical connectors on vehicles equipped with a manual transmission.
- On all models, install the PCM cover and secure with the two plastic retainers. Enable the air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. Connect the negative battery cable. After replacing PCM, refer to latest Techline information on PCM reprogramming. PCM can only be programmed using Tech 2 and Techline terminal, or by using a personal computer equipped with the current service programming system software installed.
