Removal Procedure

    WARNING:

    Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning .

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Primary) , Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Auxiliary) .
  2. Remove the air filter assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
  3. Remove the induction tube from the throttle body. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement .
  4. Remove the mass air flow (MAF) sensor with intake air temperature (IAT) sensor. Refer to Mass Airflow Sensor with Intake Air Temperature Sensor Replacement .
  5. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory .

  7. Remove the power steering pump to power steering hose banjo bolt (1).
  8. NOTE:

    Bolts with micro-encapsulated thread sealant must be discarded after removal.

  9. Remove the power steering pump to power steering pump bracket retaining bolts (2).
    • Discard the bolts.
    • Position the power steering pump to away from the generator.

  11. Remove the generator battery positive cable nut (1) from the generator stud.
  12. Remove the generator battery positive cable (2) from the generator stud.
  13. Disconnect the A/C clamp inlet pipe at the left frame rail and reposition the A/C hose/pipe bracket.
  14. NOTE:

    Press the retainer tabs to remove electrical connector (3).

  15. Remove the electrical connector (3) from the generator.

  17. Remove the generator retaining bolts (1, 2).
  18. Remove the generator (3) from the vehicle.
