Installation Procedure
- Select overlap or backing plate for the section joint (1). Overlap/Backing Plate Sectioning
- Prepare quarter outer panel per installation requirements.
- Prepare all joining surfaces for welding as necessary.
- Position quarter outer panel (1) on the vehicle using 3-dimensional measuring equipment.
- Remove quarter outer panel (1) from vehicle.
- Apply weld-thru coating or equivalent to all welding surfaces. Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair
- Clean and prepare quarter outer panel and vehicle for adhesive according to adhesive manufacturer's recommendations. METAL PANEL BONDING
- Apply structural adhesive (1) on the mating surfaces on the quarter outer panel and vehicle according to adhesive manufacturer's recommendations. METAL PANEL BONDING
- Apply expanding foam (1) on vehicle.
- Apply sealer (1) on vehicle.
- Install quarter outer panel (1) on vehicle and clamp into place.
- Re-hem the wheel opening flange area (1) of the quarter outer panel.
- Install spot welds (1). [23x]
- Install roof. (IF APPLICABLE FOR SECTIONING LOCATION) Roof Outer Panel Replacement (SWB) Roof Outer Panel Replacement (LWB Sunroof) Roof Outer Panel Replacement (LWB) Roof Outer Panel Replacement (SWB Sunroof)
- Apply the sealers and anti-corrosion materials to the repair area as necessary. Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair
- Paint the repaired area. Basecoat/Clearcoat Paint Systems .
- Install all related panels and components.
- Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (9C1, 5W4)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (KL9)
- Enable the SIR System. SIR Disabling and Enabling .
NOTE:
Prepare quarter outer panel before installation.
NOTE:
Not all spot welds noted during removal process are required to be reinstalled. Per individual procedure structural adhesive can be used in place of spot welds. METAL PANEL BONDING

Left side only.
NOTE:
Spot welds and MIG/MAG welds with 3 or 4 metals stacked up can be completed simultaneously when all panels or components are present.
NOTE:
Before refinishing, refer to Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair
