Ignition System: Operation: Sensors: Notes

The electronic spark control computer, mounted on the air cleaner, uses up to 7 engine sensors to determine when to fire the spark plugs. See Figure. These include the distributor pick-up coils, vacuum transducer, coolant temperature sensor, carburetor switch, detonation sensor, oxygen sensor, and charge temperature switch (if equipped).
