Cold DRIVEABILITY Test 1 - Choke Position Check

  1. Depress gas pedal to set choke. Remove air cleaner cover. Check choke plate and fast idle cam position. Choke plate should be fully closed and fast idle cam set to the highest step.
  2. If choke plate is not fully closed or cam not in position, check choke plate for binding or sticking. Repair choke plate or linkage as necessary. If choke plate position and cam are okay, Proceed to COLD DRIVEABILITY TEST 2A  (2-Bbl. models) or COLD DRIVEABILITY TEST 2B  (4-Bbl. models).
