Ignition Switch Binding

  1. If ignition switch binds or is hard to turn, ensure interlock cable is adjusted correctly. See INTERLOCK SYSTEM ADJUSTMENT  under ADJUSTMENTS. If interlock cable adjustment is good, check steering column area behind ignition switch.
  2. This area may be filed to remove excessive casting flashing to provide clearance for the ignition switch and any rotating components. See Figure. To remove the ignition switch, refer to IGNITION SWITCH R & I  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
