Automatic Day/Night Inside Mirror

  1. Turn ignition switch to ON position with transmission in Park. Place mirror switch in HI position. Cover forward-facing sensor with a dark cloth to exclude any ambient light. See Fig 1.
  2. Shine a light into rear-facing sensor. Observe whether or not mirror darkens. With mirror darkened, place transmission in Reverse. Mirror should return to normal. If conditions of steps 1) and 2) are met, mirror is operating correctly. If conditions are not met, go to next step.
  3. Test voltage at 3-way harness connector. With ignition switch in run position, pin No. 1 should have battery voltage, pin No. 2 should have continuity to ground and, with transmission in Reverse, pin No. 3 should have battery voltage. See Fig 1.
  4. If circuits are okay, replace mirror. If circuits are not okay, check wiring harness. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
