Throttle Body Synchronization

NOTE: Throttle bodies must be synchronized anytime either throttle body is remove and then reinstalled, or when a gap exists between adjusting screw and lever located on right (passenger's side) throttle body. See Fig 1 .
  1. Install a .004" (.10 mm) feeler gauge between idle speed screw and throttle lever on right (passenger's side) throttle body. See Fig 1 .
  2. Loosen lock nut on adjusting screw, located on synchronization shaft. See Fig 1 . Rotate adjusting screw until adjusting screw just contacts lever on synchronization shaft. Tighten lock nut to 36 INCH lbs. (4 N.m) while holding adjusting screw from rotating.
  3. Using .004" (.10 mm) feeler gauge, check clearance between idle speed screw and throttle lever on right (passenger's side) throttle body. A .004" (.10 mm) feeler gauge should have resistance when removed. Ensure a .006" (.15 mm) feeler gauge will not fit between idle speed screw and throttle lever on right (passenger's side) throttle body.
