Section 1 (Body Control Modules): Description
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Dodge Ram Wagon, 2002 Dodge Ram Van, 2001 Dodge Ram Wagon, and 2001 Dodge Ram Van. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
WARNING:
Vehicles are equipped with air bag supplemental restraint system. Before attempting ANY repairs involving steering column, instrument panel or related components, see AIRBAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.
Body control system consists of a combination of modules that communicate over Chrysler Collision Detection (CCD) bus circuit. Through CCD bus circuit, information related to operation of vehicle components and circuits are relayed to appropriate system module(s). This reduces complexity of vehicle wiring and size of wiring harness.
Vehicle systems that are part of body control system are as follows.
- Air Bag
- Chime
- Communication
- Door Ajar
- Instrument Cluster
- Interior Lighting
- Power Door Locks/Remote Keyless Entry
- Vehicle Theft Security
- Windshield Wiper/Washer
Components that communicate over CCD bus circuit are as follows.
- Air Bag Control Module (ACM)
- Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB) Module
- Central Timer Module (CTM)
- Electro-Mechanical Instrument Cluster (EMIC) Module
- Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
