Front Suspension: Cautions

The following CAUTIONS should be observed when servicing vehicle suspension systems.

CAUTION: Only frame contact hoisting equipment can be used on this vehicle due to vehicle having a fully independent front and rear suspension. This vehicle can not be hoisted using equipment designed to lift a vehicle by rear axle. If this type of hoisting equipment is used, damage to rear suspension components will occur.
CAUTION: Use care when removing suspension components from this vehicle. The suspension components are not to be removed from vehicle by striking them with a hammer or heating them.
CAUTION: DO NOT bend or hammer on clevis brackets that mount suspension components to frame of vehicle.
CAUTION: When handling suspension components of this vehicle during service procedures, do not drop them. If a suspension component of this vehicle is dropped during servicing of vehicle, component must be thoroughly inspected for damage or cracks before being installed on vehicle.
CAUTION: Because of extensive use of aluminum, all components and fasteners of front and rear suspension system are designed to prevent galvanic corrosion. When servicing suspension, always use special coated bolts, nuts, washers and ball joints.
CAUTION: All fastener torque values of suspension system are critical. The torque values shown in text and torque specifications table in this article must be used when tightening suspension system fasteners. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
CAUTION: If vehicle is transported on a trailer, do not secure vehicle to trailer using suspension system of vehicle. Use only specified tie down locations on front and rear frame rails of vehicle.
