Accelerator Pedal: Removal
- The accelerator pedal is connected to the throttle body linkage by the throttle cable. The cable is protected by a plastic sheathing and is connected to the throttle body linkage. It is connected to the upper part of the accelerator pedal arm by a plastic retainer (clip). This retainer (clip) snaps into the top of the accelerator pedal arm. It is mounted to the dash panel with 2 studs and nuts. See Fig 1.
- There are 2 cables at the throttle body, one for speed control and throttle control. Remove the throttle cable from throttle body. See Fig 2.
- Removing throttle cable from throttle body lever. See Fig 3.
- Throttle cable attached to pedal. See Fig 4.
- From inside vehicle, hold up accelerator pedal. Remove plastic cable retainer (clip) and throttle cable core wire from upper end of accelerator pedal arm. Plastic cable retainer (clip) snaps into pedal arm. See Fig 5.
- Remove accelerator pedal mounting bracket nuts. See Fig 6.
- Remove accelerator pedal assembly.
CAUTION:
Be careful not to damage or kink the cable core wire (within the cable sheathing) while servicing the accelerator pedal or throttle cable.
