Charging System: Generator: Installation: 1.6L

Install the 2 lower and 1 upper mounting bolts into the generator. See Fig 1.

Install the generator to the vehicle. See Fig 2.
Hand start the bolts.
Install the upper inboard mounting bolts and hand start the bolt.
Raise vehicle and support.
Tighten the outboard generator mounting bolt. Torque to 28 N.m (250 in. lbs.).

Install the accessory drive belt, (Refer to COOLING/ACCESSORY DRIVE/DRIVE BELTS - INSTALLATION) .

Install the right splash shield.
Lower vehicle.
Tighten the lower inboard generator mounting bolt. Torque to 28 N.m (250 in. lbs.).
Tighten the upper 2 mounting bolts. Torque to 28 N.m (250 in. lbs.).

Install the power steering reservoir to the support bracket. See Fig 5.

Connect the electrical connectors to the generator. See Fig 6.
Install the lower intake manifold, refer to appropriate article, (Refer to ENGINE/MANIFOLDS/INTAKE MANIFOLD - INSTALLATION) or (Refer to ENGINE/MANIFOLDS/INTAKE MANIFOLD - INSTALLATION) .
Install the fuel rail, (Refer to FUEL SYSTEM/FUEL DELIVERY/FUEL RAIL - INSTALLATION) .
Install the 2 bolts to the fuel rail at the lower manifold.
Install the fuel line to the fuel rail.
Install the wiring harness to the fuel rail brackets.
Connect the electrical connectors to the fuel injectors.
Connect the negative battery cable.
Install air cleaner assembly cover, refer to appropriate article, (Refer to ENGINE/AIR INTAKE SYSTEM/AIR CLEANER ELEMENT - INSTALLATION) or (Refer to ENGINE/AIR INTAKE SYSTEM/AIR CLEANER ELEMENT - INSTALLATION) .
