Steering Column: Notes
NOTE:
Remove steering column only if following conditions exist:
- Steering column requires replacement.
- Steering and ignition lock housing require replacement.
- Another operation requires removal of steering column.
NOTE:
The steering column is extremely susceptible to damage after it has been removed from vehicle. Dropping column assembly on its end or hammering end of steering shaft can collapse steering shaft or loosen plastic injections which maintain column rigidity. Leaning on column can cause it to bend or deform. Any of above damage can impair column's collapsible design. If it is necessary to remove steering wheel, use only specified steering wheel puller.
