Pressure Regulator

  1. Install Fuel Pressure Gauge (SST 09268-87701-000) on fuel line located on top of fuel filter. See Fig 1 . Tighten retaining bolt to 25-32 ft. lbs. (34-43 N.m). Wipe off excess gasoline.
  2. Install Sub-Harness (SST 09991-87702-000) on 6-pin check connector located near top of transaxle (near battery on Rocky). Install a jumper wire between "F" terminal (White/Black wire) and ground terminal (Black wire). See Figure .
  3. Install negative battery cable. Turn ignition on and note fuel pressure. See FUEL PUMP PERFORMANCE  . If pressure exceeds specification, check return line for blockage. If there is no blockage, replace pressure regulator.
  4. If pressure reading is less than specification, turn ignition off. Place fuel return line in a measuring cylinder. Ensure battery voltage is 12 volts. Turn ignition on for 30 seconds and note amount of fuel delivered. See FUEL PUMP PERFORMANCE  .
  5. If volume is less than specification, check fuel filter and fuel pump. If fuel volume is within specification and pressure reading is less than specification, replace pressure regulator.
  6. Disconnect negative battery cable and remove pressure gauge. Remove sub-harness and jumper wire from 6-pin check connector, and install terminal cap.
