Ignition Coil

The Auto Shutdown (ASD) relay provides battery voltage to ignition coil. The PCM provides a ground contact (circuit) for energizing coil. When PCM breaks contact, energy in coil primary transfers to secondary causing spark. PCM will de-energize ASD relay if it does not receive crankshaft position sensor and camshaft position sensor inputs.
