Vapor Canister: Notes

All vehicles use a maintenance free, evaporative (EVAP) canister. Fuel tank vapors vent into canister. The canister temporarily holds fuel vapors until intake manifold vacuum draws them into EVAP Canister and Leak Detection Pump combustion chamber. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) purges canister through proportional purge solenoid. The PCM purges canister at predetermined intervals and engine conditions.
