Side Impact Airbag Control Module: Installation

The removal and installation of the driver and passenger side modules is identical. The orientation of the modules is the only difference.

WARNING: THE MODULES CANNOT BE INTERCHANGED. THEY ARE UNIQUE TO EACH SIDE. FAILURE TO INSTALL THEM PROPERLY COULD RESULT IN OCCUPANT PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH.
  1. Connect the SIACM electrical connector. See Figure.
  2. Position the SIACM below the front door sill and install the retaining screws. See Figure. Torque the nuts to 15 N.m (135 in. lbs.).
  3. Install the door sill trim on the appropriate side of the vehicle (Refer to BODY/INTERIOR/DOOR SILL TRIM - INSTALLATION) .
    WARNING: DO NOT CONNECT THE BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE. REFER TO DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING - AIRBAG SYSTEM  FIRST. FAILURE TO DO SO COULD RESULT IN OCCUPANT PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH.
  4. Close hood.
  5. Verify vehicle and system operation.
