CAUTION:

Do not use oil based liquids, wire brushes, abrasive wheels or metal scrapers to clean the engine gasket surfaces. Use only isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol, along with plastic or wooden scrapers. Improper gasket surface preparation may result in engine fluid leakage.

Clean both sealing surfaces using a plastic scraper and Mopar® Brake Parts Cleaner or the equivalent. Take care not to scratch or gouge the sealing surfaces.
Install a new water pump gasket.
Install the pump to chain case cover.

Tighten the water pump bolts in the sequence 12 N.m (106 in. lbs.).
Rotate the water pump by hand to check for freedom of movement.
Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to BELT, SERPENTINE, INSTALLATION .
Install the air cleaner housing assembly, connect throttle body air inlet hose. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, INSTALLATION .
Evacuate the air and refill cooling system. Refer to PUMP, WATER, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
Check the cooling system for leaks. Refer to COOLING SYSTEM LEAK TEST .
