Manual Bleeding

NOTE: Manual bleeding requires assistance from a second technician.
  1. Ensure ignition is off and remains off during bleeding procedure. Depressurize accumulator by pumping brake pedal a minimum of 40 times.
    WARNING: Failure to depressurize hydraulic accumulator prior to performing this operation may result in personal injury and/or damage to painted surfaces.
  2. Connect transparent hose to caliper bleed screw. Submerge free end of hose in clear jar partially filled with clean, fresh brake fluid. Slowly pump brake pedal several times, using full strokes of pedal and allowing approximately 5 seconds between pedal strokes. After 2 or 3 strokes, continue holding pressure with pedal at bottom of travel.
  3. With pressure on pedal, open bleed screw 1/2-3/4 turn. Leave bleed screw open until fluid no longer flows from hose. Tighten bleed screw and release pedal. Repeat until clear, bubble-free fluid flows from hose. Bleed all calipers in order, LR, RR, LF and RF.
