Coolant Temperature Sensor Testing

  1. Drain cooling system. Remove coolant temperature sensor from lower corner of radiator. Place coolant temperature sensor in water up to the mounting threads.
  2. Heat water to 185°F (85°C) and check continuity between sensor terminals. Ensure continuity exist. Reduce water temperature to less than 172°F (78°C). Check continuity. Continuity should NOT exist. Replace sensor if it does not test as specified.
