1977-78 Models

  1. Remove air cleaner and disconnect vacuum line from distributor. Disconnect vacuum control valve line at intake manifold. Connect distributor vacuum line to manifold fitting.
  2. Disconnect and plug vacuum line from carburetor side of spark delay valve. Attach a vacuum gauge to spark delay valve. Start and run engine at idle
  3. Detach vacuum line from intake manifold fitting. Note time required for vacuum reading to drop to 11.8 in. Hg. Vacuum should drop to specified value within 2-10 seconds. If system does not respond as indicated, replace spark delay valve. Reconnect vacuum lines to original positions.
