Speedometer Is Inaccurate

  1. Verify quick connect is properly attached at speedometer head. If connections are bad, repair or replace as necessary.
  2. Check accuracy of odometer.
NOTE: If odometer is accurate, calibration of speedometer may be off. Changing speedometer head may correct inaccuracy, but changing drive gear(s) can make speedometer more accurate and odometer reading inaccurate.

If odometer reading is accurate, replace speedometer head. Recheck speedometer accuracy. If odometer is also inaccurate, go to next step.

3) Check for proper driven gear ratio.

NOTE: If odometer is accurate, calibration of speedometer may be off. Changing speedometer head may correct inaccuracy, but changing drive gear(s) can make speedometer more accurate and odometer reading inaccurate.

If driven gear ratio is incorrect, replace and recheck speedometer accuracy. If driven gear ratio is correct, go to next step.

4) Check for proper drive gear, axle, tires and ratio adapter. Replace components that are not correct and recheck speedometer accuracy. If components are correct, replace speedometer head and recheck accuracy.
