Shift Interlock System

The shift interlock system consists of:

• a brake shift interlock actuator.
  • A transmission shift selector position insert, which bolts to the steering actuator housing, secures the brake shift interlock actuator to the steering column.
• electrical circuits to supply power to lock and unlock the brake shift interlock actuator.

The brake shift interlock actuator locks the gearshift lever in PARK:

• when the ignition switch lock cylinder is in the LOCK position.
• with the ignition switch lock cylinder in the RUN position and the brake pedal released.

The brake shift interlock actuator releases the gearshift lever:

• when the ignition switch lock cylinder is in the FIRST position.
• with the ignition switch lock cylinder in the RUN position and the brake pedal actuated.
