Removal and Installation

CAUTION: During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces, that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan, can cause engine failure.
  1. Remove the rocker arms. For additional information, refer to VALVE TRAIN COMPONENTS - EXPLODED VIEW  and ROCKER ARM  in this article.
    2. CAUTION: If the push rods are to be reused, they must be installed in their original location. Mark the push rods for location.
  2. Remove the push rods.
  3. Inspect the push rods. For additional information, refer to ENGINE SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
    4. NOTE: Lubricate the push rod with clean engine oil.
  4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
