Keyless Entry Does Not Operate Correctly

  1. Disconnect keyless entry receiver connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Connect test light between connector terminal "J" (Pink wire) and ground. If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, repair open circuit in Pink wire.
  2. Connect test light between connector terminal "E" (Orange wire) and ground. If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, repair open circuit in Orange wire and reprogram keyless entry receiver. See PROGRAMMING PROCEDURE  .
  3. Connect test light between connector terminals "J" (Pink wire) and "N" (Black wire). If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, repair open circuit in Black wire.
  4. Connect self-powered test light between connector terminal "A" (Tan wire) and ground. If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, repair open circuit in Tan wire.
  5. Put right front door lock switch in LOCK position. Connect test light between connector terminal "R" (Light Blue wire) and ground. If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, repair open circuit in Light Blue wire.
  6. Put right front door lock switch in UNLOCK position. Connect test light between connector terminal "B" (White wire) and ground. If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, repair open circuit in White wire.
  7. If battery condition is unknown, replace transmitter batteries with fresh batteries. If system operates normally, system is okay. If still does not operate normally, go to next step.
  8. Connect jumper wire between DLC connector terminal No. 8 (Black/White wire) and ground. If doors lock and unlock, go to next step. If doors do not lock and unlock, go to step 10).
  9. Leave jumper wire connected. Obtain a known-good transmitter. Operate transmitter by pressing a single button once. Disconnect jumper wire. If system operates normally, replace inoperative transmitter. If system does not operate normally, replace keyless entry receiver. Reprogram replacement keyless entry receiver. See PROGRAMMING PROCEDURE  .
  10. Connect self-powered test light between DLC connector terminal No. 8 (Black/White wire) and ground. If test light comes on, repair short to ground in Black/White wire and reprogram keyless entry receiver. If test light does not come on, replace keyless entry receiver. Reprogram replacement keyless entry receiver. See PROGRAMMING PROCEDURE  .
