Adjustment Procedure

  1. Before performing any adjustment affecting the wheel alignment, refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement .
    NOTE:

    A service bolt is available for the upper strut to steering knuckle position. Do not attempt to file on the strut holes to make camber adjustment. The service bolt is approximately 2 mm smaller in diameter to allow adjustment. Refer to the electronic parts catalog for proper application.

  2. Determine the actual camber, Positive (1) or Negative (2).
  3. Raise the front of the vehicle. Follow alignment machine instructions.
  4. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.Follow alignment machine instructions.

  5. Loosen the lower steering knuckle nut (1) enough to allow the splines of the steering knuckle bolt (2) to disengage from the steering knuckle (3). Strut Assembly Removal and Installation
  6. Remove the upper steering knuckle nut and bolt and DISCARD the bolt.

  7. Assemble the NEW service bolt (1) to upper strut to steering knuckle. Do not fully tighten.
  8. Install the tire and wheel assembly.
    9. NOTE:

    For accurate readings, do not push or pull on the tire and wheel assembly during the alignment.

  9. Adjust the front camber to specifications. Wheel Alignment Measurement .

    NOTE:

    The next step may require assistance.

  10. Hold the camber adjustment and tighten the upper steering knuckle nut (1) while holding the steering knuckle bolt (2) to secure the adjustment. Do not fully torque at this time.
  11. Lower the front wheels. Follow alignment machine instructions.
  12. Re-inspect the camber settings.
  13. Tighten Steering Knuckle Upper Nut.Strut Assembly Removal and Installation
  14. Remove and DISCARD the steering knuckle lower bolt.
  15. Install a NEW steering knuckle bolt in the lower strut to knuckle position. Ensure that the spline of the bolt is fully seated within the knuckle and strut.
  16. Tighten the steering knuckle lower nut. Strut Assembly Removal and Installation
    17. NOTE:

    After adjusting the front camber, it is necessary to adjust the front toe.

  17. Adjust the front toe. Wheel Alignment - Steering Wheel Angle and/or Front Toe Adjustment
