Removal Procedure
WARNING:
Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Warning .
CAUTION:
Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Caution .
CAUTION:
Always connect or disconnect the wiring harness connector from the EBCM/EBTCM with the ignition switch in the OFF position. Failure to observe this precaution could result in damage to the EBCM/EBTCM.
- Place the ignition switch in the OFF position.
- Remove Radiator Surge Tank (1) - Radiator Surge Tank Replacement (LYX without KL9)Radiator Surge Tank Replacement (LTG LYX with KL9)Radiator Surge Tank Replacement (LH7 FWD)Radiator Surge Tank Replacement (LH7 AWD)
- Clean the area surrounding the EBCM/BPMV of any accumulated dirt and debris.
- Disconnect Electronic Brake Control Module Electrical Connector (1).
- Disconnect Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Secondary Pipe Fitting (1).
- Cap the brake pipe fitting and plug the BPMV inlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Disconnect Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Primary Pipe Fitting (1)
- Cap the brake pipe fitting and plug the BPMV inlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Disconnect Right Rear Brake Pipe Fitting (1)
- Cap the brake pipe fitting and plug the BPMV outlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Disconnect Left Front Brake Pipe Fitting (1).
- Cap the brake pipe fitting and plug the BPMV outlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Disconnect Right Front Brake Pipe Fitting (1).
- Cap the brake pipe fitting and plug the BPMV outlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Disconnect Left Rear Brake Pipe Fitting (1).
- Cap the brake pipe fitting and plug the BPMV outlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Remove Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Bracket Bolt (1).
- Remove Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Bracket Nut (1).
- Remove Electronic Brake Control Module with Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (1).
- Remove Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Bolt (1).
- Remove Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Bracket (1).
NOTE:
The area around the electronic brake control module (EBCM) and brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) assembly must be free from loose dirt to prevent contamination of disassembled ABS components.
