Headlight Switch Test: Metro

  1. To check headlight switch, remove switch from dash panel. Using an ohmmeter, measure continuity between headlight switch terminals. When headlight switch is in "OFF" position, there should be no continuity between any terminals.
  2. With only parking lights on, continuity should exist between White/Yellow and Orange wire terminals. When headlight switch is in "ON" position, continuity should exist between White/Yellow and Orange wire terminals, and Green/Black and Black wire terminals.
  3. To check rheostat in switch, remove switch from dash panel and connect battery positive (+) to terminal "B" of switch. Connect battery negative (-) to terminal "E" of switch. Connect a test light between terminal "L" and battery positive (+) terminal. See Fig 1 . Turning switch clockwise should brighten test light, counterclockwise should dim test light.
