Headlight Switch Test

  1. Push headlight switch on and turn combination switch to low beam position. If headlights do not operate, remove lighting relay from fuse/relay box on left side of engine compartment.
  2. Using DVOM, check resistance between fuse/relay box (located near battery in engine compartment)connector terminal No. 3 (Red/Blue wire) and ground. If resistance is greater than .5 ohm, go to next step. If resistance is less than .5 ohm, repair open in White wire between fuse FL-2 and lighting relay, located in fuse/relay box.
  3. Check resistance between junction block connector C5 (located behind left kick panel) terminal No. 5 (Red/Blue wire) and ground. If resistance is greater than .5 ohm, go to next step. If resistance is less than .5 ohm, repair open in Red/Blue wire between fuse/relay box and junction block.
  4. Check resistance between junction block connector C4 (located behind left kick panel) terminal No. 12 (Red/Blue wire) and ground. If resistance is greater than .5 ohm, go to next step. If resistance is less than .5 ohm, replace junction block.
  5. Check resistance between headlight switch connector terminal No. 2 (Red/Black wire; Red/Blue wire after splice) and ground. If resistance is greater than .5 ohm, go to next step. If resistance is less than .5 ohm, repair open in Red/Blue wire (Red/Black wire, after splice) between headlight switch and junction block.
  6. Check resistance between light switch connector terminal No. 3 (Black wire) and ground. If resistance is greater than .5 ohm, repair open in Black wire between headlight switch and ground. If resistance is less than .5 ohm, replace headlight switch.
