Tachometer Test

  1. If tachometer does not register correct engine RPM, connect known good tachometer to Data Link Connector (DLC) terminal No. 19 (Black wire). Start engine. If correct RPM is not indicated, check for open in Black wire between DLC and igniter. If wire is okay, replace igniter.
  2. If correct RPM is indicated, check for open in Black wire between instrument cluster connector and splice. Check cluster printed circuit for cracks or poor connections. If wiring and printed circuit are good, replace tachometer.
