System Testing

  1. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Move power mirror selector switch to "L" (left) position. Move power mirror switch between UP and DOWN, and LEFT and RIGHT positions. Move power mirror selector switch to "R" (right) position. Move power mirror switch between UP and DOWN, and LEFT and RIGHT positions. If both power mirrors move smoothly up and down, and left and right, system is operating properly. If both mirrors do not operate as described, go to next step. If left front power mirror does not operate described, go to step 5). If right front power mirror does not operate described, go to step 10).
  2. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using test light, backprobe between power mirror switch 7-pin connector terminal No. 7 (White/Black wire) and ground. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, repair open in White/Black wire.
  3. Using test light, backprobe between power mirror switch 7-pin connector terminal No. 5 (Black wire) and battery voltage. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, repair open in Black wire.
  4. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect power mirror switch connector and left front power mirror connector. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between left front power mirror connector terminal No. 3 (White wire) and power mirror switch 7-pin connector terminal No. 6 (White wire). If resistance is 0.3 ohm or more, repair open in White wire. If resistance is less than 0.3 ohm, replace power mirror switch.
  5. Ensure ignition switch is in ON position. Move power mirror selector switch to "L" position. Using test light, backprobe between power mirror switch 7-pin connector terminal No. 2 (Green wire) and terminal No. 6 (White wire). Move power mirror switch to LEFT position and then to RIGHT position. If test light illuminates with switch in both positions, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate with switch in one or both positions, replace power mirror switch.
  6. Using test light, backprobe between power mirror switch 7-pin connector terminal No. 3 (Brown wire) and terminal No. 6 (White wire). Move power mirror switch to UP position and then to DOWN position. If test light illuminates with switch in both positions, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate with switch in one or both positions, replace power mirror switch.
  7. Using test light, backprobe between left front power mirror connector terminal No. 2 (Green wire) and terminal No. 3 (White wire). Move power mirror switch to LEFT position. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step. If test light illuminates, go to step 9).
  8. Using test light, backprobe between left front power mirror connector terminal No. 2 (Green wire) and ground. Move power mirror switch to LEFT position. If test light does not illuminate, repair open in Green wire. If test light illuminates, repair open in White wire.
  9. Using test light, backprobe between power mirror switch 7-pin connector terminal No. 3 (Brown wire) and terminal No. 6 (White wire). Move power mirror switch to DOWN position. If test light does not illuminate, repair open in Brown wire. If test light illuminates, replace left front power mirror.
  10. Ensure ignition switch is in ON position. Move power mirror selector switch to "R" position. Using test light, backprobe between power mirror switch 7-pin connector terminal No. 1 (Green/Red wire) and terminal No. 6 (White wire). Move power mirror switch to LEFT position and then to RIGHT position. If test light illuminates with switch in both positions, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate with switch in one or both positions, replace power mirror switch.
  11. Using test light, backprobe between power mirror switch 7-pin connector terminal No. 4 (Brown/Red wire) and terminal No. 6 (White wire). Move power mirror switch to UP and then to DOWN position. If test light illuminates with switch in both positions, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate with switch in one or both positions, replace power mirror switch.
  12. Using test light, backprobe between right front power mirror connector terminal No. 2 (White wire) and terminal No. 3 (Green wire). Move power mirror switch to LEFT position. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step. If test light illuminates, go to step 14).
  13. Using test light, backprobe between right front power mirror connector terminal No. 3 (Green wire) and ground. Move power mirror switch to LEFT position. If test light does not illuminate, repair open in Green wire between harness side of right front power mirror connector and power mirror switch. If test light illuminates, repair open in White wire.
  14. Using test light, backprobe between right front power mirror connector terminal No. 1 (Brown wire) and terminal No. 2 (White wire). If test light does not illuminate, repair open in Brown wire or Brown/Red wire. If test light does illuminates, replace right front power mirror.
