Preliminary Testing

  1. Check IG-COIL METER (15-amp) fuse. Ensure all grounds are clean and tight. Ensure engine coolant level is adequate for ECT gauge operation. Ensure brake fluid level is adequate. Ensure there are no brake system fluid leaks. Ensure parking brake is fully released. Ensure engine oil level is adequate for oil pressure indicator operation. If oil pressure indicator remains lit during engine operation, verify proper oil pressure.
  2. If instrument cluster is completely inoperative, check for open circuit in Black/White wire between fuse block and instrument cluster.
  3. If instrument cluster is partially inoperative, check for open in Black wire between instrument cluster and ground connection, or open in Black/Yellow wire between instrument cluster ground connection, check bulbs, and check instrument cluster printed circuit for bad connections, cracks or other damage.
