Ignition Timing

  1. Remove rubber inspection cap from window on cylinder block. Attach a timing light. See  Fig 2 .  Engine should be idling at normal operating temperature.
  2. Timing is correct when proper timing mark on flywheel (or drive plate) is aligned with index pointer on crankcase. See  Figure .  Timing mark on Federal Accord and Prelude models with manual transaxle is painted white. It is red on all other models.
  3. To adjust timing, loosen distributor bolt and turn distributor body counterclockwise to retard timing or clockwise to advance timing.
